James Says

Thomsonfly's attempts to offer cheap flights to Marseille from Coventry did not manage to attract sufficient numbers to make the route work. The airport plans to open a no-frills terminal in 2006, and it is widely anticipated that Easyjet will open up many more flights to Marseille to complement their existing routes from London Gatwick, when this facility becomes available. From other parts of the UK, it might be worth considering flights to nearby Nimes. Despite the apparent distance, Marseille can be reached by the high-speed TGV train from Paris in just over three hours. TGV stations have been built at the airports in both Lyon and Paris (Charles de Gaulle), but matching flights with onward train journeys at Lyon is not as easy as it should be.

@Jodatu That might be slightly different. I only looked at SE HS1 on their own, also with flights fm Manston ceasing, looked at Ashford-EDI

@Jodatu Yes, SE HS1 Highspeed. Off Peak single was £1.80 less St P - Ahsford cf peak. I tried booking online, no suggestion of CDRs

@Jodatu Read the link - basically no advance tix on HS1, minimal savings offpeak compared to peak. Why would SE want to compete with selves?
