  • Flights to Denmark - Overview

The vast majority of flights to Denmark operate to the capital, Copenhagen. Unfortunately Copenhagen's Kastrup Airport is expensive for airlines to operate into and Easyjet have pulled a number of their Danish flights because of this. There are some hopes for an increase in the numbers if cheap flights to Denmark, following the Danish government's scrapping of air passenger duty.

If you are trying to reach the main Jutland peninsular of Denmark, there are flights available to cities such as Esbjerg, Billund and Aarhus.

Some travellers also choose to reach Denmark via neighbouring countries - Ryanair offer cheap flights to Malmö in Sweden, which is situated just across the Oresund Bridge from Copenhagen, and also to Lübeck, near Hamburg in northern Germany. There are excellent ferry connections from Germany and Sweden to Denmark.

We hope that you have found this information about flights to Denmark useful.

    Mini guide to Denmark

Those mischievous Danes: whether winding cinemagoers up with the Dogme film movement and its directors’ collective “cinematic vow of chastity”, or sending Muslims into fits of rage with the controversial outpourings of its nation’s cartoonists, Denmark has certainly been in the media spotlight lately. That’s perhaps what comes from sitting at the very edge of Europe: latter-day Denmark is no longer the preserve of Hans Christian Andersen’s goody-goody fairytales, but more than happy to play the role of troublemaker at the back of the classroom, flicking the V-sign at the teachers whenever their backs are turned.

Geographically, Denmark is spread out over a number of varyingly sized islands, which psychologists might say explains its recent behaviour: the result of an unsettled upbringing. Most tourists choose to spend their stay in old, familiar Copenhagen, the nation’s elegant capital on the isle of Zealand, whose respectability - the famed statue of Andersen’s Little Mermaid, good views over the Oresund to neighbouring Sweden - lends itself very easily to youthful rebellion. The remaining islands boast a wealth of ports and coastal towns - like Aarhus - which explains the dockers’ mouth, and fjords to the north-west, which explains the desire to run free and unchecked. Far and away the naughtiest country in Scandinavia, the only question to travelers remains: do you wanna be in Denmark’s gang?
