I'm really glad to hear that Ryanair have announced cheap flights to Paphos today as part of their newest base. I usually go to Cyprus twice each year, but there haven't been Paphos flights from Stansted previously.

Looks like the no-frills phenomenon has now hit Paphos, with Ryanair not just announcing flights there from Stansted, but also making it their 50th base.

Wow, now Ryanair are starting cheap flights to Paphos, I might take a look. I take it Larnaca is closer to the main resorts, and Paphos is the cheaper alternative? Are there trains in Cyprus, or should I hire a car?

  Both Paphos and Larnaca are resorts in their own right, but Paphos is actually slightly closer to Limassol.
  
  Sadly, there are no trains on Cyprus, the last service ran in 1952, and there don't seem to be any plans to restore or rebuild lines. You can get around using the blue buses, go on coach tours, or rent a car, depending on what suits you best. Cyprus is larger than you might think - 149 miles long and 62 miles at its widest. Good fast motorways link the main resorts, but roads are slow and winding in hilly areas - certainly plenty to explore.

I'm also glad Ryanair are starting Paphos flights - I usually fly with Thomson, but looking at their flights from Stansted in August, they have some fares as high as £747 - as if they are trying to rub it in just how expensive they are!

I really don't like Ryanair that much, but I am prepared to give them a go against those prices!

  Penny, when I saw those prices, I had to see how much Ryanair were charging out of curiosity, and their flights were coming in at a little less than £300. I know everyone loves to hate Ryanair, but they are incredible reliable, and for most of the flight, the seats are much of a muchness, and the view from the window the same!
  
  I suspect Thomson are offering slightly better deals if you take a package with them, but this is also a typical case of the usual summer holidays price gouging!
