Flights to Austria - Overview
The majority of cheap flights to Austria arrive in Salzburg, which is becoming increasingly popular as a year-round destination, as well as a major skiing centre. The Austrian capital Vienna only has direct flights from London and Manchester, with high costs having frightened many of the budget airlines across the border with Slovakia to nearby Bratislava instead. However, this deadlock is set to change, thanks to Easyjet's new cheap flights to Vienna, which start in October.
Additionally, regular charter flights to Innsbruck are available during the ski season, with Ryanair also having links into Linz and the up and coming city of Graz.

Mini guide to Austria
It’s an irony (or perhaps just an inevitability) that a country at the gateway of Eastern Europe - one that borders Slovenia, Slovakia and Hungary - should have taken a shift to the political right over the last few years. Yet despite its forbidding reputation, the land of wiener schnitzel can still lay on quite the welcome for its visitors - those from the West, at least.
Top of most travellers’ itineraries is Vienna, whose old-world charm and cobbled streets make it the ideal destination for The Third Man location freaks, incurable romantics and Ultravox aficionados alike. The Danube flows west through the city, up to Linz and then across the border to Germany. For many, though, Austria will mean the mountain ranges of Salzburg and Tyrol, boasting snowy peaks, stunning scenery, and some of the cleanest air in Europe.
