More suggestions for finding cheap flights to Montserrat
Flight schedules to Montserrat have been as turbulent as the island’s volcano in recent years. The original W.H Bramble airport was destroyed following the 1997 eruptions, leading to many years of helicopter and fast boat services replacing fixed wing flights.
The new airport at Gerald's was opened in July 2005, but sadly this has not led to the kind of reliable services that the island desperately needs. Neither LIAT's subcontractor airline Carib Aviation, nor the now-defunct Air Montserrat, offer flights to Montserrat any more, although Winair do at least continue to provide flights from St Martin and Antigua to Montserrat. Winair offer between three and four flights a day between Antigua and Montserrat, and daily flights from St Martin to Montserrat.
To reach Montserrat from the UK, it is usually easiest to travel via Antigua from London Gatwick, although it is also sometimes worth looking at flights to St Martin, which has frequent inbound links from both Paris and Amsterdam. These St Martin flights tend to offer much better connections to UK regional airports than any of the Antigua flights which depart from Gatwick.
You will usually have to make your own independent booking for the onward flight to Montserrat - as with all Caribbean flights, we advise allowing plenty of contingency time in order to avoid missing connections.
