    There are no direct flights to Montserrat from the UK, indeed there were no plane flights at all (there was a helicopter service) to the Caribbean island for almost a decade following the closure of W.H Bramble airport in the aftermath of the 1997 volcanic eruptions. The airport was covered in a sea of ash, and is too vulnerable from further eruptions to ever be opened again.
    In July 1995 a new airport finally opened on the more stable northern half of the island, but the availability of flights to Montserrat has still fluctuated dramatically. Please see our flights to Plymouth (Montserrat) page for further details.
