If you are looking for Dominican Republic flights outside the realms of the charter flight operators, you will need to find scheduled flights to the capital Santo Domingo.
Travellers seeking scheduled flights to the Dominican Republic have a much more narrow choice, with the main option being to take connecting flights through US hubs such as Miami, or other Caribbean cities such as Kingston , Jamaica .

Yes, people come to Puerto Plata primarily for its beaches - and what beaches they are. Consider, for starters, the crescent-shaped beauty of Cofres Beach, or Long Beach, which stretches on for a mile. Cabarete Beach is a small resort, best known for its top-flight windsurfing facilities, but one which boasts an excellent, lively nightlife. And then there's Golden Beach (also known as Playa Dorada), far and away the most populated of the four. What, then, to do when the sun goes in? In this part of the world, that's fortunately not often. But Puerto Plata also offers a number of secondary attractions and activities for the tanned and sunburned alike to enjoy. Take Fort San Felipe, dating from the 16th century, and one of the first 'New World' constructions assembled by the Europeans on discovering the island. To get a local perspective on the island's history, stop in at the Museum of Taino Art, which numbers amongst its exhibits an excavated tomb containing the remains of several natives. The Dominican Rep's rep for the bizarre (well, it shares space with Haiti, where voodoo reigns) extends to the Amber Museum, a Victorian oddity which holds the largest collection of amber in the world. (Well, it would, wouldn't it?) Not for nothing is this part of the world known as the Amber Coast, then; but nature also makes its presence felt in the region's numerous safari tours - most popular with honeymooners - and with Mount Isabel de Torres, the 2000ft mountain which dominates the landscape. On a clear morning, you're only a cable car ride away from the most exquisite of views&
