Flight Summary

The state capital of Sarawak is a popular resort for tourism within Asia, but there are no direct flights to Kota Kinabalu from any airport in Europe. The most obvious place to find connecting flights to Kota Kinabalu is the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur, although you might also find good deals via Singapore or Bandar Seri Begawan in Brunei. There aren't many obvious options for finding one-stop flight connections to Kota Kinabalu from any city outside London, although it should still be possible from Manchester, which maintains a direct link with Singapore.

Destination Summary

Kota Kinabalu on Malaysian Borneo is the nearest major city to the region's premier tourist attraction, Mt Kinabalu.

James Says

Kota Kinabalu is a popular resort for tourism within Asia, but finding flights there from the UK is not so easy. Many of the direct flights to Kota Kinabalu operate from cities which are further to the east or South, although regular connections are also available through Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. Alternatively, many travellers reach Kota Kinabalu through Brunei. Royal Brunei airlines offer one-stop flights from London to Bandar Seri Begawan, with easy onward connections. It is also possible to reach Kota Kinabalu by taking a very via the duty-free island of Labuan.

@Jodatu That might be slightly different. I only looked at SE HS1 on their own, also with flights fm Manston ceasing, looked at Ashford-EDI

@Jodatu Yes, SE HS1 Highspeed. Off Peak single was £1.80 less St P - Ahsford cf peak. I tried booking online, no suggestion of CDRs

@Jodatu Read the link - basically no advance tix on HS1, minimal savings offpeak compared to peak. Why would SE want to compete with selves?
