Being situated on the southwest tip of the island of Kyushu, Kagoshima is right at the end of the high-speed Shinkansen railway line from Tokyo, but this is not a particularly realistic transfer option. A wider range of international flights is available to Fukuoka / Hakata on the north of the island.
