Flights to Israel - Overview
Flights to Israel centre around two distinct markets - scheduled flights, which operate into Ben Gurion airport just outside Israel's commercial centre and largest city, Tel Aviv; and charter flights aimed at travellers heading for the Red Sea resort of Eilat.
Direct scheduled flights to Tel Aviv are operated from London by British Airways, the Israeli national carrier El Al, and Israir. Note that El Al's Tel Aviv flights depart from both Stansted and Heathrow.
This year sees a significant challenge to this market, as the leisure airline Thomsonfly launches new cheap flights to Tel Aviv from both London Gatwick and Manchester. There are also numerous options for finding connecting flights to Tel Aviv through various other European hubs -- please see our Tel Aviv flights page for further details.
Note that the airport in Eilat (ETH) itself only has limited facilities - most charter flights will arrive into the nearby city of Ovda (OVD) instead.
Domestic flights
Regular shuttle flights operate between Tel Aviv and the Red Sea resort of Eilat, saving passengers from a tedious road journey. Note that domestic flights to Eilat depart from two different airports in Tel Aviv - Ben Gurion International, and also from Sde Dov airport, which is just two miles from Tel Aviv.
We hope that you have found this information about flights to Israel useful.
