  • Flights to India - Overview

The range of cheap flights to India has expanded significantly following the relaxation of bilateral restrictions earlier this year. Many more direct flight routes are planned for 2006, with the majority of the growth going to the two main hubs of Delhi and Mumbai/Bombay. Other cities with direct flights from London include Bangalore, Chennai/Madras and Calcutta.

Additionally, charter flights operate to Goa, with the recent addition of new flights from Birmingham, joining established links from London and Manchester.

Despite the increased range of direct flights to India, there is still far more demand than there is supply, meaning that many of the best deals are on connecting flights rather than direct services. Most of these operate via hubs in the Middle East, such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Bahrain.

Regular festivals line these cities' streets with colour, music, prayer and dance, providing a tantalising alternative to everyday Western materialism. Ready, steady, Goa…
