A new airport is under construction and we await further news of flights from the UK to El Alamein.

El Alamein in a nutshell: El Alamein is the site of one of the important battles of World War II, where Montgomery's Desert Rats defeated Rommel's Panzer division. There are few reminders of the fierce fighting that took place here, although the cemetery for Commonwealth troops is particularly moving. El Alamein is now a major oil port and burgeoning Mediterranean resort.
